Om mig
I am a PhD candidate in Sociological Demography at Stockholm University Demography Unit. I hold a BSc in Business Economics and Social Statistics from the University of the West Indies (Jamaica), and a MSc in Economic Demography from Lund University (Sweden). Before my return to academia I worked for 10 years in the production of official government statistics in various government organizations in Jamaica, Montserrat and Belize.
I am currently a part of the research project: A Better Life for the Children of Exile: Intergenerational Adaptation of the Descendants of Refugees. My dissertation focuses on the educational outcomes of the second generation children born to refugees in Sweden. It uses longitudinal data from the Swedish Population Register from 1968-2019 to analyze the educational trajectories of the second-generation descendants of refugees (born after their parents’ arrival in Sweden), including as compared with their parents, and the first generation more generally. The results of this research will generate insights into the determinants of assimilation and adaptation for refugees and their descendants in Sweden.
