A "Tandem" language exchange means that two people work systematically to learn and help one another with learning each other's mother tongues. It is not about formal teaching, but rather an informal language exchange for which you decide the methods and forms (such as how often you meet and for how long). "Tandem" is the perfect complement to more formal language classes.

The "Tandem" language exchange program is open to all students at Stockholm University. You sign up for "Tandem" on the page Register for Tandem.

Distance based language exchange in Korean or Spanish

Starting in the spring term 2019, we can also offer a distance language exchange in Korean, in collaboration with 한국외국어대학교 스칸디나비어과 (Department of the Scandinavian Languages) at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS). We also continue with our collaboration with Escuela Nacional de Lenguas, Lingüística y Traducción (ENALLT) at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) to offer a distance language exchange in Spanish. Choose "Korean at a distance" or "Spanish at a distance" as your target language to apply. When we find a matching buddy we will help you setting up your meetings via Zoom.

Quotes from participants:

- You learn so much more than in class, and you make friends that you otherwise probably would not have made.
- Tandem is a good way to learn to speak the language and practise your pronunciation, you learn things that are more difficult to learn from books and you learn about the culture.
