Manuel Dominguez Rodrigo (Rice University). Latest discoveries at Olduvai Gorge: new archaeological record shows that early humans had a unique way of life.

Description
The Olduvai Paleoanthropology and Paleoecology Project (TOPPP) has been conducting research aiming at reconstructing the origins of humanness. After more than half a century of lack of new sites at Olduvai, TOPPP has discovered a group of new anthropogenic sites that are being studied with XXist century technology. These sites constitute the best archaeological record that exist to understand early human behavior. Here, we will summarize the importance of this record and will show how these sites are changing previous ideas on hominin adaptation and evolution. Among these, for the first time, the preservation of these sites is so exceptional that we can get a glimpse of early human social life.
