Archaeological news from Asine: terracotta figurines, Romvi and recent maritime explorations
Asine was first explored by Swedish archaeologists in the 1920s. Part of a LH IIIC settlement was revealed, but finds from both earlier and later phases at the site were discovered. Among the Late Bronze Age finds are the terracotta figurines. The various types are brought forward, and a specific interpretative analysis is presented. Some recent results from a maritime archaeological survey will also be presented. The survey was carried out during short field seasons the past two years in which a submerged harbor structure outside Kastraki has been documented.
