Conferences and seminars
The Department of History arranges several seminar series on a range of historical themes.
Some of the seminar series are connected to a research group or a research centre. Some are more directed to a public audience and others more academically oriented.
Digital History Seminar
This seminar series is a platform for discussions on the digitization of the historical sciences. Most seminars are conducted in English and through Zoom.

Hans Blix Seminar for the History of International Relations
The Hans Blix Centre for the History of International Relations is an interdisciplinary research centre at Stockholm University. The Centre is led by researchers at the Department of History and the Department of Economic History and International Relations. The Centre organizes a seminar series focusing on the history of international relations.

Maritime Seminar
The Maritime Seminars are organized by the Centre for Maritime Studies, CEMAS, a collaboration between Stockholm University and the Swedish National Maritime and Transport Museums. Seminars usually take place on selected Fridays at the Vasa museum.

Gender History Seminar
The seminar series provides a platform for discussion, debate and analysis of texts which provide new perspectives on gender. Researchers of all periods, from medieval to present times, attend the seminars, as well as other researchers who have an interest in gender perspectives.

Seminar for Climate and Environmental History
Climate and environmental History is an interdisciplinary field of research which combined qualitative and quantitative methods. Within the field, a broad selection of subjects are studied from many perspectives.
The seminar usually takes place on selected Wednesdays at 3pm–5pm, both in on location in room D837 at the Department of History and on Zoom.

Medieval Seminar
The Centre for Medieval Studies organize the interdisciplinary Medieval seminars at the Department of History. The series provides a platform for collaboration between disciplines as well as opportunities to present publications, projects and ongoing research. The seminars are open to the public.

Modern History Seminar
The Modern History research at the department is primarily focused on the 20th century. Subjects include migration politics, international aid, welfare politics, social movements and scientific careers.
Urban History Seminar
A seminar about the city.
The Institute of Urban History arranges their high seminars in this series. One or two researchers present new research, no pre-registration necessary.
The Institute of Urban History conducts research on swedish and international urban history.

Early Modern Seminar
The Early Modern Seminars at the Department of history is the only historical seminar series which covers the period of 1500 –1800. The seminar convenes on five Wednesdays each semester at 15:00–18:00.
The seminar series also includes "Early modern theme days" focused on research questions of particular interest.
