About us

The Department of History is the largest of its kind in Sweden. We offer courses in History and in Cultural Studies and conduct research within the History field.

The Department of History is located only ten minutes from Stockholm City centre.

To be situated in the capital of Sweden provides great advantages since we benefit from access to major archives, museums and governmental agencies.

Education

The Department offers a wide variety of introductory and advanced courses in history that will challenge any undergraduate or graduate student. We also contribute to the education of teachers in history.

Research

There are around 45 members of the staff engaged in teaching and research, and some 25 PhD students doing their scientific research studies. Research carried out at the department covers a wide range of topics.
