The master's programme in linguistics gives you in-depth knowledge in your chosen major field of study. As a programme student, you are trained in planning, performing and reporting independently research work. The specialisation in phonetics focuses mainly on experimental studies of speech.

The programme leads to a master's degree in linguistics, and makes you eligible to apply for postgraduate education.

Programme overview

The master's programme comprises two semesters of full-time studies.

Year 1

Semester 1

Scientific Methods and Research Ethics, 7.5 credits (Main field of study: Philosophy)

Project Course in Phonetics, 7.5 credits (Main field of study: Linguistics)

Analysis and Processing of Speech, 7.5 credits (Main field of study: Language Informatics)

Statistics and Machine Learning, 7.5 credits (Main field of study: Language Informatics)

Semester 2

Phonetics – Master's course, 15 credits (Main field of study: Linguistics)

Elective course amounting to 7.5 credits (Main field of study: Linguistics)

Optional course amounting to 7.5 credits
