Housing for international students
Stockholm University offers a limited number of accommodation options for eligible international students. These include private rooms with shared facilities as well as family apartments. All housing is located in or near central Stockholm.
As the number of available accommodation is limited, it is important to look for other housing options as early as possible.

The listed rent applies to the academic year 2024/2025 and is per semester.

Who can apply
Only certain international students are eligible for university-arranged accommodation, based on national regulations.
Accommodation may be offered to
- exchange students studying for at least one semester
- tuition fee-paying students studying for at least one semester
- students with a Stockholm University Scholarship or a Swedish Institute Scholarship, studying for at least one semester.

Important dates and rental conditions
- Application timing: The timing of your application within the application window does not affect your chances.
- Late applications: Only considered if accommodation is still available.
- Rent and dates: Rent is charged for the full contract period. Fixed arrival and departure dates apply.

Opens: 15 October 2025 at 12:00 (CET)

Autumn semester 2025: 23 August–16 January 2026
Spring semester 2026: 18 January–8 June 2026
Rent and payment
Rent is paid in two instalments each semester:
- First instalment: Paid when you sign the Agreement to confirm your booking. This covers 20 percent of the semester’s rent and your deposit.
- Second instalment: Due one month after the start date of your Agreement. This covers the remaining 80 percent of the rent.
If you’re staying for the summer, the full summer rent must be paid in advance.
All payments are made by card via your Accommodation Account. If you have any issues with payment, please contact the Housing Office before the due date to avoid late fees.
