Research
I am an early career marketing and consumer researcher with a PhD in Business Administration. My research interests can be trifurcated into three distinct areas. Firstly, my research focus during my doctoral studies has been within the nexus of consumer acculturation, gender ideologies, and social inclusion. In my doctoral dissertation, I studied how migrant consumers coming from less gender-equal (South Asian) societies adapt and navigate contesting gender ideologies in their new, more gender-egalitarian host culture (Swedish marketplace). In connection with this research interest, I have recently been awarded (in collaboration with my former PhD supervisor) a three-year program grant of SEK 1,800,000 from Wallanders och Tom Hedelius stiftelse samt Tore Browaldh (Handelsbanken) for the research project 'Exploring Retail Marketplaces as Spaces for Social Inclusion and Exclusion.' Secondly, I am also passionate about understanding digitalization and emerging trends in consumer and retail marketing. My book chapter titled 'Into the Metaverse: Technological Advances Shaping the Future of Consumer and Retail Marketing' explores and critiques how technology is shaping our future consumption and retail practices. Finally, I am interested in understanding consumer resistance and sports. As the project leader, I have also received another three-year grant of SEK 1,500,000 from Wallanders och Tom Hedelius stiftelse samt Tore Browaldh (Handelsbanken) for 'Exploring Acceptance and Resistance of Sportswashing in the Western Marketplace,' in collaboration with colleagues at Lund and Stockolm Universities. Currently, I am affiliated as a researcher at both Stockholm and Lund Universities.
