Katja Jekaterina Sarajeva
About me
I am a researcher and program manager at SPIDER - The Swedish Program for ICT in Developing Regions at the Department of Computer and Systems Sciences.
I have a PhD in Social Anthropology with focus on primarily subcultures, globalization and digital tools. I have a lot of experience of lecturing about ICT in low resource contexts. Recent research interests include Ethics, AI and cross-cultural perspectives.
My research interest concern primarily the role of communication technology in society ranging from its role in the formation and coherence of subcultures to the role of digital technologies in societal and economic development and inclusion.
Teaching
I have given many guest lectures on courses focused on sustainability at various universities such as KTH, Chalmers, Uppsala Universitet and Karolinska Institute. My teaching focuses on the role of digital technologies in low-resource and developing contexts most and aspects of ethics in AI an project management.
Research
Currently my research focuses on how telecommunication regulation is developed and launched and how it contributes to a well-regulated telecommunication space and contributes to development goals in Sub-Saharan Africa. This work is carried out within the frame of Team Europe Initiative iPRIS. I am also interested in philosophy of technology, Ethics in AI and cybersecurity.
