Research project International Academics’ Experiences in Sweden
This study aims to enhance understanding of the experiences of international academics who moved to Sweden to work at a Swedish Higher Education Institution within the STEM disciplines (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) between 2008-2024.
Both international academics who remained in Sweden as well as those who left the country will be interviewed. The project will contribute to knowledge of the barriers and opportunities international academics face when coming to Sweden.
The project falls within the fields of higher education research and migration research takes a point of departure from both sociological and educational research traditions. The results of the study will also contribute more generally to academic literature on high-skilled migration.
