In this research project, we study how market reforms within the Swedish school system have changed the labour market for preschool staff, by investigating whether exposure to competition from private contractors has affected wages, staff turnover, and sickness absence among preschool staff.

This project investigates minority language education in two parallel educational settings in Sweden: mother tongue tuition (MTT), which forms part of the national curriculum, and the teaching of language and culture in complementary schools, organized by local communities.

The preschool is today an established children's institution that creates and reproduces ideas about children and childhood - via speeches, texts and pictures in and about the preschool. Such beliefs are crucial both for children's everyday life and for the action and living conditions the preschool offers children, parents, guardians and staff.

Falls among older people are a serious problem that causes both human suffering and high social costs. There is extensive knowledge about how falls can be prevented, but there is often a lack of knowledge about the conditions required for this to be put into practice, by older people themselves, by staff in social services, home care and healthcare.

However, the proportion of students who use loans seems to vary greatly across higher education systems. In this project, we investigate institutional and individual-level factors that influence student loan uptake.

Social actions such as advice and feedback are sensitive actions, often triggering emotional and defensive reactions. Moreover, just how to understand and describe such actions – for instance, as “constructive advice”, “complaints”, or even “insults” – is a potential point of contention and dispute for participants in interaction.

The aim of the project is to investigate what can happen when a school changes from a monolingual to a multilingual episteme and recognizes all languages as resources for learning, or epistemic resources. I study the returns to education (in terms of earnings and wealth), educational spillovers between siblings and across generations, and how university education can influence health and social preferences.

The aim of the project is to evaluate how regional differences in the supply of upper secondary programs affected wages, employment and other labor market-related outcomes for individuals who attended upper secondary school during the 1970s and 1980s.
