Research project Moving on, Youth attending an introduction program and their career support in varying local context
This project concerns the opportunities to strengthen educational and professional chances for students without complete compulsory education, a group running increased risks of future social exclusion. These young people are normally channeled into one of five introductory programs (IP), preparing for studies and/or work.

However structural conditions and institutional support vary considerably between local contexts. The project focuses the aspirations of IP students in various local settings and the support offered for career learning and career choices in these contexts. The project aims at developing knowledge and understanding of how local structures, institutional processes and individual aspirations interact. Careership and place theories inform the study.
Methods and data sources:
- observations of career development activities addressing IP students in various types of urban and rural municipalities,
- interviews with the students, interviews with school staff and local politicians,
- surveys directed to career counselors/other informants with an overview of the local career support.
The study is expected to provide knowledge that can be used in order to develop well informed career support for youth groups known to be at risk.
