Research project Teaching and learning through narratives and role-play in history and social study subjects
The research project is a national collaboration with history and social study subject teachers throughout Sweden. The starting point is teachers' own teaching and assessment of their students' learning. The focus is on the use of narratives and role-play in teaching.
The research project focuses on the use of narratives and role-play in teaching and is based on teachers' own teaching and assessment of their students' learning in the subjects. The project is based upon theory from research in teaching and learning history in school and from educational psychology. The overall purpose of the project is to produce reports that can be used for teaching and assessment in school, but also for scientific work. The goal is to develop knowledge for effective teaching of history and society-oriented subjects through collaboration with professional teachers.
The project's support structure consists of two web-based courses at Stockholm University and the web-based research seminar Historiepedagogiska seminariet - Narrativ kompetens genom berättelser och rollspel. The two free standing advanced level courses are:
- Narratives and roleplay as teaching tools in education of history and social science 7.5 ECTS
- Learning with narratives and role-play in education of history and social science, 7.5 ECTS
They are both aimed to teachers in history or society-oriented subjects.
