Research group LUGN – The Mathematics Teacher Education-group
The Mathematics Teacher Education-group focuses on pre-service education of mathematics teachers for all grades.
Group description
The international research group LUGN focuses on mathematics teacher education. We study the knowledge base, content, and practices of teacher education. We also study new teachers' learning and practice, their take-up from teacher training, and their development in the practice they are in.
Several different theoretical and methodological perspectives on mathematics education and teacher education are included in the group, for example ATD, Commognition, and Sociopolitical perspectives. This makes LUGN a dynamic research group with great openness to different perspectives on teacher education.
We explore the various practices, theories, and discourses that future teachers encounter in education, with the aim of contributing to the development of mathematics teacher education in Sweden and internationally.
