Research project Teaching development research about the youngest preschool children's vocabulary and language

Teaching development research. about the youngest preschool children's Swedish vocabulary and language development.

The study focuses on the teaching challenges that pedagogues in Järva district administration have identified in their work with the youngest preschool children's (1-3 years) Swedish vocabulary and language development. The design of the study means that language-strengthening teaching activities are developed iteratively together with the pedagogues with the support of systematic evaluation work.

The starting point is the preschool's expanded language concept and a conscious support of the children's language, i.e. verbal expressions, words, sentence constructions, bodily gestures and expressions, the use of material artefacts and other forms of expression. The children's Swedish vocabulary and language management are expanded in educationally planned play and learning environments where the children's first language is also used in a translation work between the different languages and forms of expression, with the aim of strengthening Swedish.
