Research subject School Governance, Organisation, Development, and Leadership
What happens in our schools affects many and involves almost everyone. We have a special interest in how schools are run, how they are organized and managed, but also how they develop in step with a changing society. We approach the field with from both a contemporary and educational historical perspective.
If you ask people in Sweden, schools are one of the most important societal issues. This is evident in debates surround “the school crisis”, for profit gain, orderliness, teacher shortages, and equality, as well as the obstacles in making the right to education a reality for all children, students, and adults whom hold this right.
School governance, leadership, organisation, and development are phenomena which are constantly changing alongside the demands placed by society. This attributes to their importance in research, politics, and public debate and can be due to, for example, global influence, national regulations, and local conditions.
Our researchers examine this theme from numerous perspectives. Some focus on studies surrounding policy and reforms, others have a more practice-oriented research approach. Many are interested in what kind of meaning governance, organisation, and leadership can have on children and students learning and development.
