Latvian II
This course is a direct continuation of the course Latvian I.

Course structure
The course covers Latvian grammar, language structure, word formation, fiction and non-fiction texts, oral and written language skills, as well as Baltic and Latvian literature and cultural history.
The course is useful for all professions and positions where knowledge of the Latvian language and Baltic literature and cultural history is required or provides a competitive advantage.
Modules
The course consists of the following modules:
- Language Proficiency C, 7.5 ECTS
- Language Proficiency D, 7.5 ECTS
- Fiction and Non-Fiction Texts, 7.5 ECTS
- Baltic Literature and Cultural History - Latvia, 7.5 ECTS
Teaching format
The teaching is conducted in the form of lectures and seminars.
Expected Learning Outcomes
To pass the course, the student should be able to:
1. Language Proficiency C, 7.5 ECTS- Demonstrate advanced knowledge of the structure of the Latvian language
- Use an extended vocabulary in Latvian
2. Language Proficiency D, 7.5 ECTS
- Explain, identify, and use more complex structures in Latvian morphology, word formation, and syntax
- Express themselves both in writing and orally in standard Latvian
3. Fiction and Non-Fiction Texts, 7.5 ECTS
- Describe the content of Latvian texts related to everyday life and society
- Describe the content of simpler Latvian literary texts
4. Baltic Literature and Cultural History - Latvia, 7.5 ECTS

Assessment
The course is examined in the following ways: written exams, oral exams, and listening comprehension tests.
Examinations:
- Language Proficiency C, 7.5 ECTS: a) written exam, b) conversation with the examiner, and listening comprehension test.
- Language Proficiency D, 7.5 ECTS: a) written exam, b) conversation with the examiner, and listening comprehension test.
- Fiction and Non-Fiction Texts, 7.5 ECTS: a) written exam, b) oral presentations during seminars.
