French - Master's Degree
The course includes the authorship of an independent project thesis in the main field of study Romance languages, specialisation in French, corresponding to the requirement for a master’s degree. The thesis must be based on an extensive familiarity with the topic along with relevant scholarly literature. Major emphasis is placed on the student being able to fulfil the basic requirements for an academically proficient and scholarly thesis. The thesis work has a much larger scope than the degree project at the undergraduate level, and the requirements relating to research methodology are significantly more stringent.
The topic of the thesis will be chosen in consultation with the academic supervisor. The defence of the thesis at a seminar is included in the course, along with an assignment taking the role of opponent in a public discussion of another student’s thesis.
