Qualitative methods in Fashion Studies

This course is mandatory part of the 3'rd semester in Masters Programme in Fashion Studies.

The course provides an overview of how different qualitative methods can be used in Fashion Studies. Examples are given from current research belonging to both the humanities and social sciences, and the student should, based on the acquired knowledge of methods in Fashion Studies, choose two methods to be applied to a limited research material.

  • Course structure


    After completing the course, the student should be able to:
    • Define and account for the qualitative methods that distinguish the research area of ​​fashion science
    • Reasoning about the possibilities and limitations of different methods
    • Apply at least two different methods to a research material

    Teaching format

    Teaching takes place in the form of lectures, group work and seminars. All teaching takes place in English and is mandatory.
