Space and Society – Theoretical Approaches in Human Geography

Space and Society - Theoretical Approaches in Human Geography examines different geographic perspectives, research areas and methods. The course aims to give an overview of perspectives from differing time periods, but emphasises more contemporary theories and methods.

The course requires a bachelor degree incl. 90 HECs in Geography, Human Geography or Urban and Regional Planning. Alternately accepted to a master programme in Human Geography, Urban and Regional Planning or Environmental Social Science. Swedish Upper Secondary School course English 6 or equivalent. 

  • Course structure

    Space and Society - Theoretical Approaches in Human Geography has the following, separately graded components: Perspectives, concepts, and research areas in Human Geography, 9 HECs Methods in Human Geography, 6 HECs

    Teaching format

    Obligatory teaching is introduction, lectures, seminars, practice and supervision.

    Detailed information, including grading criteria, is provided at the course introduction and via the learning platform Athena.

    Assessment

    Examination is done by written and oral presentation of assignments.

    Several teachers assess and grade within the course.
