About us
The Bolin Centre is a multi-disciplinary consortium of over 400 scientists in Sweden that conduct research and graduate education related to the Earth's climate. The centre was formed in 2006 by Stockholm University, the Swedish Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) and the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI).
We focus on extending and disseminating knowledge about the Earth’s natural climate system, climate variations, climate impacting processes, climate modelling, human impact on the climate and climate impacts on ecosystems, biodiversity and human conditions as well as how society can minimize negative impacts.
Our research themes
Research at the Bolin Centre is structured into four research themes. Up until the end of 2021, we used to be oragnized into eight multi-disciplinary research areas.

Climate Festival

The Climate Festival (Klimatfestival) is Bolincentret's largest Swedish public event and has been arranged annually since 2017.
More information about the Climate Festival can be found on our Swedish page:
Annual reports
The Bolin Centre Annual Report is our attempt to summarize the scientific achievements of the Bolin Centre and its scientists throughout the preceding year and future plans.
