Welcome to a predoc seminar on food waste activism! Katie Berns, PhD student at DSV, is the respondent.

Invitation to PhD student Katie Berns’s predoc seminar at the Department of Computer and Systems Sciences (DSV), Stockholm University. She will present her ongoing work on “Designing for Community Economies: Exploring Alternatives for Infrastructuring Food Waste Activism”. The seminar takes place on March 22, 2023.

This thesis explores the role of digital civics in promoting a more sustainable and equitable future. It suggests that carefully designed digital technologies can play an important role in supporting community-led efforts to address pressing social and environmental challenges such as food waste. The key themes of my thesis include post-capitalism, community economies, and food waste activism.
