Econometrics in Swedish policymaking - Applications and reflections from 15 years of practice

Abstract

I will talk about how econometrics shapes policy decisions at major Swedish institutions, including the Ministry of Finance, National Institute of Economic Research and the Riksbank. For instance, I'll describe how they make their macroeconomic forecasts (which heavily affect policy decisions) and how econometrics has been used to answer policy-relevant questions. The presentation will be very non-technical and hopefully easily accessible also for non-experts.
