The Gender Lab is a research group interested in exploring different facets of gender-related issues.

Our research interests include topics such as gender inequality in the workplace, LGBTQIA+ rights, gender-fair language, and gender identities beyond the binary. Employing both quantitative and qualitative methods, we aim to foster diversity and inclusion and advance gender equality.

Group description

Welcome to the Gender Lab, led by Professor Marie Gustafsson Sendén, where three PhD students are exploring gender-related issues.

At the moment, we are actively researching:

  • gender categorization of faces beyond the binary
  • media representations of and attitudes toward trans and gender diverse people
  • decision making processes of women and men in the workplace
  • gender-fair language and the neutral pronoun "hen"

Some of the research lab's projects have received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant agreement No 953326.
