Research in Baltic language history has been carried out at Stockholm university since the early 1970s.
Research in Baltic language history, or historical linguistics, at the Section for Baltic Studies involves studying language changes in Latvian and Lithuanian, including studies of the now extinct language Old Prussian, as well as Baltic dialectology, sound changes and vocabulary changes.
