Research subject Teaching and Learning in Arts
Teaching and Learning in Arts is a field of knowledge and research that deals with questions about teaching and learning within the aesthetic subject area, both in and outside the school system.
The research subject includes interdisciplinary activities between different aesthetic forms of expression, such as aesthetic learning processes and multimodality, as well as aesthetic subjects and other subjects that are part of the field of knowledge. The research deals with the prerequisites for - and knowledge about the development of teaching and learning in aesthetic subjects for children, young people and adults.
The research conducted at the Department of Teaching and Learning concerns image and media, drama and theatre, music and movement and dance, with a focus on the meeting between artistic and educational activities. It is aimed at aesthetic learning processes, multimodality and creative expression in different didactic contexts such as preschool, school, cultural school and higher education, as well as cultural life and care.
The research covers all ages from preschool children to adults in both formal and informal education, and ranges from practice development projects to educational philosophical studies.
