Research subject Pre- and early modern literature
Research in pre- and early modern literature is a prominent field within Literary Studies at the Department of Culture and Aesthetics.
Several of the department’s researchers contribute to a renewal of European literary history and they engage for example in the history of subjectivity as well as the history of emotions, early modern ecologies, the history of gender, historiography, the literary history of writing from a media historical perspective, genre history and premodern fiction theory.

Doctoral studies
The postgraduate studies in Literature consists of four years of fulltime studies with employment. As a PhD student you will be contributing to the research from Stockholm University and to the research environment at the Department of Culture and Aesthetics. The doctoral studies include writing an independent thesis.
