Research subject Health, Pedagogy, the Individual, and Society
Within this theme, our researchers are interested in health as a societal and cultural phenomenon. The research includes, amongst others, studies of the concepts and norms surrounding health, illness, and functionality, as well as how they are constructed and the influence they have on people’s lives.
The research highlights, amongst others, the concepts and norms surrounding health and illness which can have major significance for the individual, but also for society at large in, for example, the role of public health.
The research includes studies in institutional contexts, such as health and social care, as well as non-institutional, everyday contexts and existential conditions such as gender, physicality, and aging. Our researchers within this theme have a background in several different disciplines, not just pedagogy, but also in the history of ideas, psychology, sociology, and linguistics.
