Communication and genres of speech: theory and practice

The course deals with the study of spoken French in different contexts. A particular focus is given to regional, social and situational variations. It combines the study of modern linguistic theories of spoken French with applied analysis of audiovisual productions using the tools of descriptive linguistics as well as sociolinguistics or interactional analysis. The course also prepare the students for writing a Master’s thesis, aiming to carry out an analysis of a spoken French corpora, within the field of discourse and interactional linguistics.
