IMPORTANT INFORMATION: To be admitted to the course you need to have made proper arrangements with a supervisor associated with the department. If no arrangements have been made with a supervisor upon application your application will be denied.

In order to ensure that your studies begin as smoothly as possible we have compiled a short checklist for the beginning of the semester.

  1. Activate your university account

    The first step in being able to register and gain access to all the university's IT services.

  2. Register at your department

    Registration can be done in different ways. Read the instructions from your department below.

  3. Read all the information on this page

    Here you will find what you need to know before your course or programme starts.


Your seat may be withdrawn if you do not register according to the instructions provided by your department.

Welcome activities

Stockholm University organises a series of welcome activities that stretch over a few weeks at the beginning of each semester. The programme is voluntary (attendance is optional) and includes Arrival Service at the airport and an Orientation Day, see more details about these events below.
Your department may also organise activities for welcoming international students. More information will be provided by your specific department.

To find a supervisor, contact the research groups you are interested in doing an internship with, and introduce yourself. Contact information is available at:

Please note that we can not guarantee that any research group will be able to accept you.

Read application instructions carefully. Incomplete applications will be considered incomplete.

    How to apply

    Once you have agreed with the supervisor to do an internship in their group, fill in this document and make sure to get it signed by the supervisor. If you are going to do several internships in a row, you only need to have one document signed, but make sure to tick the courses you are going to complete. Upload the document on at the same time as you apply. If the document is missing, you will not be able to be admitted to the course.
