The library article search service (EBSCO Discovery) is a search tool where you can search for scholarly articles, e-books, reports, videos, and more across a large number of databases simultaneously. You access the article search service on the library's home page by selecting the Articles tab.

What is included in the search service?

The library article search service includes both library-subscribed material and material that is freely available (open access). You search across all of these when using the search service. However, not all the library's databases are included. The list below shows which databases and other search services are included. Please note that the list may change.

If you want to search in one of the library's databases that is not included in the search service, you can search directly in the database. Find the database via Databases A-Ö where you can see which databases and other search tools you as a student or researcher at Stockholm University have access to.

If you want to search within a specific subject area it may also be better to search directly in a subject-specific database.

Access full text

To check if the article is available in full text, click on the Access options drop-down menu in the result list. If full text is available, you find the link Fulltext Online. If the full text is not available, you instead find the link Request this.

Access options in the library article search service

Clicking on Fulltext Online may lead you directly to the full text. However, some texts may require you to log in with your SU credentials if you are off campus. Fulltext Online may also lead to an intermediary page where you can choose from several links leading to the full text.

If there is no available full text, you can click on Request this to request the article through the library. This is a free service though limited to students and researchers at Stockholm University. 

Additional access options

In addition to Fulltext Online and Request this, links to other services may be available, such as:

  • Fulltext Online (published version): Link to the article's full text available as open access, along with information about the article's version.
  • View Journal Issue [Browzine]: Displays the table of contents for the journal issue in which the article is published.
  • Citations, References & More [Scopus]: Link to the search result in the database Scopus.
  • Citations, References & More [WoS]: Link to the search result in the database Web of Science.
  • View more [MathSciNet]: Link to the search result in the database MathSciNet.
  • View in PASCAL Archive: Link to the search result in PASCAL Archive.

Additional links may sometimes be found on the detailed view of the search result.
 

 

Filter your search results

You can use filters to refine your search. The filters are located beneath the search box at the top of the result page. It is possible to combine different filters to further refine your search. 

Available filters under search box
  • Under All Filters, you'll see all available filters to refine your search results.
  • Available Online limits your search to results you have full text access to through the library.
  • Peer Reviewed Journal limits the search to articles published in peer reviewed journals.
  • All time can be used if you're only interested in recently published material or material from a specific period.
  • Source type can be used to limit your search to a specific type of material, such as books, articles, or other document types.
 

Set language

You can select the language for the interface by clicking on MyEBSCO in the top right corner. Then, click on My preferences. Here, you can choose your preferred language from the dropdown menu. Click Save afterward.
