About the lecturer:

Ângela Carvalho obtained her degree in Modern Languages and Literatures, major in Portuguese and French Studies (Educational Branch) (2003), her Master's Degree in Portuguese Second Language / Foreign Language (2009) and her PhD in Didactics of Languages (2014) from the Arts Faculty of University of Porto. She has been teaching and carrying out research in the fields of Portuguese as a Foreign Language and foreign language teacher trainees formation. She has been teaching at the Arts Faculty of University of Porto from 2007 and since 2015 she is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Portuguese Studies and Romance Studies of the same faculty.

About the seminarHumor in foreign languages

In this session I propose to: (i) discuss some definitions of humor; (ii) consider the place and relevance of humor in foreign language classes in relation with linguistic, cultural, pragmatic and discursive contents; and (iii) present some didactic proposals to Portuguese as a Foreign Language.
