Chemistry section represented at ForskarFredag 2025
For this year’s ForskarFredag, the Chemistry section (the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics and the Department of Chemistry) joint together to inspire and stimulate young students’ interest in science.

On September 26, the ForskarFredag Science Fair was held at AlbaNova. Research groups from the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics together with researchers from the Department of Chemistry engaged student through interactive demonstrations and discussions about how science helps us explore the world around us.
”ForskarFredag is an event that provides a platform to connect academia, education, research, and the younger generation of students. Sharing what we do in the Department of Chemistry (Kemikum) at Stockholm University with young people, and sparking their interest in science, has been one of the most fascinating experiences I have had”, says Jing Li from the Department of Chemistry.
The purpose of ForskarFredag is to start a dialogue between researchers and the public, show what researchers do and to inspire young students (15-19 years old) to study at university and stimulate their interest in science.
“Taking part in ForskarFredag is always a very rewarding experience! To me, it’s not just a chance to share my passion for science, but also to connect with the students and witness their excitement. I hope I managed to spark curiosity about the brain and highlight the importance of research on neurodegenerative diseases”, says Larissa Kahnwald from the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics.
ForskarFredag is part of the European Researchers’ Night, that takes place all over Europe. The Science Fair in Stockholm is held at AlbaNova and is organized by Vetenskapens Hus. Vetenskapens Hus is owned by KTH and Stockholm University.
