Collaboration
Collaborations beyond our department, spanning both academic and non-academic partners, are essential to driving impactful research and innovation. Discover more about our partnerships below.
ARTEMI - Swedish Research Infrastructure for Advanced Electron Microscopy
ARTEMI is the National Research Infrastructure for Advanced Electron Microscopy, designated by the Swedish Research Council (VR). It comprises a distributed infrastructure that involves six partner universities, each offering complementary instrumentation and methodologies.

CEM4MAT
CEM4MAT is an initiative originating from the electron microscopy (EM) facilities in the Stockholm-Uppsala region. This regional platform aims to enhance the accessibility and transparency of the Transmission Electron Microscopy research infrastructure for both external and internal users. The four nodes of CEM4MAT, each specialising in Materials Sciences, are Uppsala University, Stockholm University, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, and SWERIM.
NordTEMhub
NordTEMhub is a Nordic University hub, as defined by NordForsk, specialising in advanced electron microscopy. The aim is to leverage the well-established environments within the Nordic region to intensify collaboration between nodes, enhance access, optimise instrument usage, and build Nordic expertise in advanced microscopy, with a particular emphasis on fostering the younger generation.
RIS4CIVIS - Sharing Research Infrastructures
High-quality and accessible infrastructures unlock the potential of researchers and the possibilities of science. Within the CIVIS alliance, there are opportunities for sharing these invaluable resources.

SwedNess – Graduate School in Neutron Scattering
SwedNess is a graduate school in neutron scattering sponsored by the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research (SSF). It represents a collaborative effort among six Swedish universities: Uppsala, Chalmers, KTH, Linköping, Lund, and Stockholm, and was launched in early 2017. The SwedNess initiative aims to increase the number of neutron scattering users and enhance expertise in this field within Sweden, particularly in light of the European Spallation Source (ESS) in Lund.
Stockholm Material Hub
The Stockholm Material Hub is supported by the EU Regional Development Fund and represents a partnership with the Stockholm Trio - KTH Royal Insitute of Technology, Karolinska Institutet, and Stockholm University.
SUCCeSS - Stockholms University Center for Circular and Sustainable Systems
SUCCeSS is a Stockholm University centre and virtual meeting place for interdisciplinary research on circular and sustainable systems, fostering collaboration with industry and policymakers. It provides researchers with a platform to connect across disciplines, enabling them to work together towards a common goal.

Vetenskapens hus and Summer research schools
Students from across the Stockholm region get to actively experience science, mathematics, and technology through hands-on experiments at Vetenskapens Hus. High school students can also receive guidance for their projects or take part in Sommarforskarskola, summer research schools, where they can deepen their knowledge in subjects such as chemistry.
