Study with us
Graduate students in the Department of Chemistry are trained in advanced techniques by leading experts in their respective fields. With a strong emphasis on critical thinking, innovative approaches, and project management, alongside the core skills of your discipline, you will be well-prepared to make a meaningful contribution to the field of chemistry, whether as a practitioner or a researcher.
Programmes on all levels
Our bachelor programme in Chemistry is a joint programme together with the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics.
Our programmes on master´s level are designed for those who wish to specialise in a particular area of chemistry. Over the course of two years, you will study intensively under the guidance of leading researchers at our institution. The programme builds on your theoretical and practical knowledge, taking you to the forefront of chemistry. The Master's programmes conclude with an extended research project, either in academia or industry.
We also gives doctoral programmes in Analytical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Materials Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Physical Chemistry.

Research at the Department of Chemistry
As a student with us at advanced level, you will have access to the latest international research and use the same state-of-art equipment as our researchers. As our researchers are also your lecturers, you will study in an inspiring environment where you can directly benefit from their expertise.
Our research addresses global challenges in the energy system, the environment, and health, all with the aim of working towards a sustainable future for everyone.
We focus on developing new materials for a sustainable society, using green synthesis methods and sustainable processing routes. Additionally, we advance methodologies for chemical analysis and structural characterisation, including analytical chemistry tools, electron crystallography, various spectroscopic techniques, and multiscale modelling.
