IVA's Gold Medal to Xiaodong Zou

Xiaodong Zou, Professor at the Department of Materials and Environmental Chemistry, is the Gold Medal of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA) 2024. She is praised for having developed methods for rapid structure determination of small crystals of inorganic, porous, and organic materials, but also for being a committed supervisor and mentor.

The Royal Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA) has been awarding gold medals since 1921. This year Professor Xiaodong Zou at the Department of Materials and Environmental Chemistry was awarded the IVA Gold Medal "for her efforts in developing methods for rapid structure determination of small crystals of inorganic, porous, and organic materials and for its contribution to the development of porous materials for more efficient chemical and fuel production as well as carbon dioxide capture. She has shown how purposeful realization of a scientific vision can be combined with committed supervision and mentoring of a large number of doctoral students and younger researchers.”
