Accommodation for researchers and doctoral students
Stockholm University offers a limited number of housing options available to international researchers and doctoral students. To be eligible, you need to have an assignment at a department for at least three months, which is the shortest tenancy offered.
You can apply for accommodation if you are an international researcher or doctoral student with an assignment at a department for minimum three months.
You are welcome to bring partner or family in our housing. In your housing application make sure to avoid shared housing if you plan to bring your partner or family.
Once you have completed all steps, the application will be placed in our housing queue and accommodations will be offered accordingly.
Complete your application with
- personal details
- at least five preferences
- filled and signed certificate for housing application (template below)
- valid photo-ID.
Please use the online booking system to apply for accommodation. You will need to upload the certificate for housing when you apply.

Fill in the form with your details and sign it. The signature of the head of department or head of administration is also required.
Home insurance
We recommend you to take home insurance for your stay in Sweden. It is mandatory if you are staying in a Stockholm University housing.
