Research subject Education and migration
Education and migration is a joint effort in developing research-based knowledge concerning how education can best be organized and conducted in order to provide equal opportunities in a time of societal and demographic change. The initiative is made possible by a new grant of SEK 32 million from the Swedish Research Council.
Research shows that increasing residential and school segregation has created an unequal education system. This negatively affects students’ ability to succeed in school, to make educational transitions, and ultimately enter the labor market and be included in society. Our aim is to develop knowledge about the opportunities, rather than the limitations, of the education system in order to reverse this trend.
Research environment
Our research within the subject Education and Migration is organised in the form of a research environment, that will bring together researchers from different disciplines and higher education institutions, as well as both ongoing and new research. We will also work actively to initiate new research and to create networks and meeting places for school actors and researchers.
A research environment implies a cooperation and collaboration taking place in larger groups of researchers from different disciplines, departments, and universities. In doing so, creating synergies and added value.
