Animal Diversity - Vertebrates

  • 10 credits

Vertebrate systematics is based on source data from numerous biological disciplines, including significant portions of paleontology as well as morphology, physiology and genetics of extant vertebrates.

This course will cover all aspects of vertebrate phylogeny and evolution, starting with hagfish, and exploring the diversification expressed in all the other fish, the reptiles and amphibians, the birds and the mammals, and everything inbetween. In the end you will be convenient to navigate up and down phylogenetic trees and recognize vertebrate taxa by synapomorphies. Course period: January - March

Further course information will appear soon on this page. Until then, information can be found on the department website.
