Master's Thesis Course in International Relations

In the course students learn to plan and conduct an independent project within the field of research, as well as to obtain skills in academic seminar discussion. The seminars deal with the different parts in essay composition and the principles for academic opposition, and additionally constitute a forum for presentation, critical and constructive discussion of the texts produced by the participants during the course. The course ends with a defense of the student’s own thesis and discussion and examination of one or several other students’ theses.

  • Course structure

The teaching consists partly of supervision and continuous participation at the essay seminars. Attendance to seminars are mandatory unless other information is communicated. For further information, see course description. Students who start working on their degree projects are entitled to individual supervision during the first semester. Students who do not finish their degree projects in time are not entitled to more supervision. However, the students are always entitled to have their degree projects graded at a future examination date.

  • Schedule

The schedule will be available no later than one month before the start of the course. We do not recommend print-outs as changes can occur. At the start of the course, your department will advise where you can find your schedule during the course.
