Portuguese I
This course provides basic knowledge of spoken and written Portuguese, as well as training in oral and written proficiency. In addition, the course provides a broad introduction to culture and society in the Portuguese-speaking countries.
The module ”Text and Language Structure I” includes a review of the basic concepts and terminology of general grammar. The reading of simple texts will provide the student with a basic vocabulary and insight into the culture of the Portuguese-speaking countries. The module ”Oral Proficiency and Interaction” presents basic Portuguese phonetics in conjunction with the reading of texts and a review of general grammar. The module ”Text and Language Structure II” includes a review of and a systematic training in the linguistic structure of Portuguese. The module ”Portuguese as a World Language” focuses on a selection of texts that deal with the spread of Portuguese around the world.
