Social psychology II

This course covers theories and empirical finds in a wide spectrum within the field of social psychology.

This course is a good choice if you want to widen and deepen the knowledge of social psychology that you learned on Psychology I (or equivalent). It is also suitable for guest and exchange students who need to set up their own education plan.

The course is optional within the Psychology II - course package, which is the second semester of studying psychology as a bachelor subject.

You will need Psychology I, 30 credits, with a minimum of 22,5 credits completed, or equivalent, to be eligible.

    This course will be given in the third quarter of the semester, full-time studies.

    Teaching format

    The instruction consists of lectures and seminars.

    Some lectures may take place remotely, as indicated in the course schedule.

    Course requirements/mandatory components include:

    • Group oral presentation using presentation software (e.g., PowerPoint) during a seminar.
    • Group submission of a written poster by the specified deadline.
    • Group oral presentation of the poster during a seminar.
    • Attendance and participation in seminars.
    • Participation in group work.

    The instruction is conducted in Swedish or English.

    Learning outcomes

    To pass the course, the student must be able to:

    • Explain and provide examples of central theoretical concepts/models/theories and empirical findings in social psychology.
    • Summarize, communicate, and critically examine social psychological research.
    • Formulate and give an account of new research hypotheses based on existing social psychological research.

    Assessment

    The course is examined through a written exam.
