This project examines how the rise of women´s employment and earnings affected trends in economic inequality among all households, across OECD and European countries since the 1980s.
Strong motivation, agency, language skills and supporting social networks, these are key factors for successful integration and migrants' access to their previous vocation in Sweden. In the study 20 skilled migrants and five employers’ representatives were interviewed.
The starting point of this project is that research on intergenerational socioeconomic persistence needs to resolutely shift the perspective away from ‘normative’ careers of ‘typical’ men to the actual Swedish population. Segregation typically refers to the clustering of certain groups in residential areas, schools, or workplaces. But segregation is intimately related to how people interact with one another. This project thus considers segregation from the angle: access to urban amenities that promote social interactions, and their effect on integration.
These two programs include theoretical as well as empirical research. I give examples of a first set of projects in the two programs, which will be carried out by twelve different collaborators in the U.S., Europe, and Sweden.

But rather than regarding the reform of 1921 as a definitive democratic breakthrough, the research project examines the events of the following century as a continuing but non-linear process of democratisation.
A dataset to study the causal effects of university education, exploiting a statistical technique called regression discontinuity. I study the returns to education (in terms of earnings and wealth), educational spillovers between siblings and across generations, and how university education can influence health and social preferences.
