Professor David Drew, Professor Eva Hedlund and researcher Marek Bartosovic from the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics receives grants from Hjärnfonden (The Swedish Brain Foundation).

Professor David Drew receives a grant for the project “Nya insikter om frisättning av signalsubstanser”.

Professor Eva Hedlund receives a grant for the project “Modellering av ALS och undersökning av sjukdomsmekanismer genom användande av neuromuskulära assembloider”.

Marek Bartosovic’s funding is for the project “How gene regulation and epigenetics rewired the human brain development”.

Research groups

David Drew's research group

The Drew group investigates the alternating-access mechanism of solute transporters for sugars and ions. These transporters are critical to cell homeostasis and their dysfunction is associated with human diseases, such as cancer and diabetes.

Eva Hedlund's research group

We are focused on understanding mechanisms of selective neuronal vulnerability and resilience in neurodegenerative diseases, with particular emphasis on the lethal motor neuron disease amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

Marek Bartosovic's research group

The Bartosovic group is interested in epigenetic programs that regulate gene expression in the central nervous system.
