In 2016, the Human Science Academic Area (HSAA) introduced a specific interdisciplinary initiative directed towards the themes of Children, Migration and Integration (CMI), an initiative to which the Vice-Chancellor had granted funds.

National research hub digitalization in preschool was founded on the initiative of Susanne Kjällander (Associate Professor in Preschool Education) in February 2020. All PhD researchers who study digital tools in preschool at Swedish higher education institutions are welcome to participate.

The research network has an interdisciplinary and international focus on exploring the relationships between young children and surrounding public spaces. It includes researchers from childhood and youth studies, preschool didactics, pedagogy, educational science, environmental psychology, landscape architecture, and cultural geography.

This research group is intended to explore understandings and definitions of practice-based research, with a particular focus on preschool.

The program Preschool children's changed knowledge focuses on which methods work to follow and support each child's development and learning in the daily teaching in preschool. A research group from Stockholm University and Södertörn University led by Anna Palmer and Christian Eidevald is responsible for the research effort
