English profile school that provide English language instruction are common today, and despite the fact that English speaking international teachers make up approximately 50% of the teacher population of these schools, there is no empirical data to date collected on this group within Sweden.

The school in Sweden is supposed to be equal, but where children and young people live and which school they attend has become of decisive importance for their opportunities to reach the national knowledge requirements. Two schools that break this pattern piqued the researchers' curiosity.

How can Teacher Education provide teacher students with the professional competency needed in a future where Artificial Intelligence (AI) is expected to play a more central role in the school?

Assessment of pedagogical and scientific competence must be done with equal care when employing academic staff. This project aims to investigate challenges associated with assessing pedagogical competence in academics’ teaching portfolios.

To be a relative to someone with dementia can be very exhausting and some develop an empathy fatigue that affects both their own health and the relationship with the relative. The project is to investigate the perceived health of relatives of people with dementia.

Research shows that one's health and illness-related identity is decisive for which health-promoting, disease-preventing and rehabilitative measures the individual performs. How people perceive themselves in the sense of I'm healthy, I'm sick etc. thus appears as an important basis for people's future health.

The present research project aims to study career guidance and counseling for newly arrived youth and young adults in upper secondary education and adult education, with specialattention to the conditons for social inclusion and recogntion.

The underrepresentation of certain groups in higher education, particularly among STEM academics and students , leads to lack of diversity. This reduces the resilience of the STEM sector and limits the ability of reliant industries to innovate and to respond to global challenges.

Strong motivation, agency, language skills and supporting social networks, these are key factors for successful integration and migrants' access to their previous vocation in Sweden. In the study 20 skilled migrants and five employers’ representatives were interviewed.

Learning with robots? The project aims to explore how we can use and benefit from human-robot interaction in adult education in Sweden, with special focus on students with Swedish as a second language.

School support for parents to be able to support their children is important, especially for parents of children with different challenges. In the project, we want to develop new knowledge about how schools cooperate with parents of students who risk not being qualified for upper secondary school.

The aim of the project is to explore the emergence of Early Childhood Education in Bangladesh. The project also explores an interesting global pedagogical trend, where low-income countries such as Bangladesh, move from formal curriculum delivery to play-based learning trend, whereas Sweden goes in the opposite direction, from play-based to formal learning.

The project ”The language café as a social venue and a space”for language training offers insights into the support provided by the civil society to the integration of adults, particularly in terms of offering non-formal, social settings for language practicing.

How does masculinity take shape in the therapy room? What does masculinity mean and how can it be given meaning - for the patient and for the therapist? In this project, the different meanings of masculinity are interpreted within the framework of psychodynamic psychotherapy.

Considering their long existence and position in the secondary education of elites in Swedish society, research on boarding schools is surprisingly limited.

Social actions such as advice and feedback are sensitive actions, often triggering emotional and defensive reactions. Moreover, just how to understand and describe such actions – for instance, as “constructive advice”, “complaints”, or even “insults” – is a potential point of contention and dispute for participants in interaction.

The project analyses how massmedia distribute scientific knowledge of the brain to the general public. By taking texts published in Swedish daily newspapers during one year (2019) as a point of departure it aims to further the understanding of how neuroscientific knowledge, and the value of such knowledge, is presented in massmedia.

How is the professional identity of  practically experienced teachers affected by undergoing an academic education alongside their teaching work? What impact do experienced teachers perceive that the academic education has on professional activities during and after the graduation?

In the Stockholm area, there are more than 200 upper secondary schools to choose from and a large number of programmes and specialisations, which makes the choice difficult for many. This thesis addresses this topic by examining the experiences of upper secondary school choice among a specific group of students, those who are newly arrived in Sweden.

In this project we investigate how visual resources are used in language education. We focus on education in Swedish for immigrants for adults, adult education for the deaf and hard of hearing, and Komvux as special education.

In preparing the future workforce, vocational teachers hold a key role in modern societies, with their competence and ideas influencing the quality of teaching and learning. What competence do vocational teachers have and what competence do they consider important?

Who can I, as a course participant, be in relation to what is embodied on a school's website? The assumption is that what is formulated on a school's website, in the form of written texts, pictures and films, can be seen as social actions and has consequences for the thoughts, feelings and actions of the visitor.

It is currently estimated that there are up to 300 000 Kenyan citizens working in the Gulf states on temporary contracts. Conditions for women domestic workers are particularly harsh. Reports of physical, psychological and sexual violence are frequent.

The Swedish curriculum for preschool education states that preschool should provide opportunities for children to develop adequate digital skills and a critical attitude towards digital technology. This project aims to investigate how workplace learning amongst preschool teachers about digital technology takes place.
