Research subject Language Education
The research area Language Education includes Swedish, English and modern languages with an educational focus. Swedish as a second language is also included in the research area.
Our research encompasses, for example, children's and young people's literacy development, texts and text use (Swedish) as well as language learning, language use and multilingualism in both young and old (English and modern languages). The area also includes issues of literature didactics, as well as multimodal perspectives on interaction, language and learning.
The research is often interdisciplinary, and we collaborate with subject didactics from other fields to investigate literacy practices, and with linguists as well as educators in projects on language learning and language teaching and assessment of language competence. Research on teachers' perceptions of their subject and research carried out with teachers are other focus areas.
