Research subject Cultural History
Cultural history deals with broad themes and long chronologies. Researchers in this field are united by an interest in meaning-making, symbols, materiality and cultural practices. There is also an interest in memory cultures and critical heritage studies.
This research deals, for example, with the cultural history of genealogy, and archaeogenetic and popular culture. Cultural history research also includes questions of nationalism, transnationalism and cultural encounters. This research addresses, for example, secularism in modern society, national education and ethnicity, as well as representations of blackness and whiteness. There is also great historical depth here, going back to the Middle Ages and the 17th century.
