Research subject International and Comparative Education
Within this theme, we aim to better understand differences between education systems, globally, as well as international educational issues. The research is interdisciplinary, aiming at holistic analyses of educational concerns from an international and comparative perspective, both current and historically.
The researchers are interested in how education and learning develop according to various influencing conditions, such as, country development level, human rights, democracy, and politics. Globalisation has had a major impact on how we view education, learning and schooling. For example, Sweden and other countries have, to varying degrees, been influenced by international measurements and ranking, such as the PISA study.
International and Comparative Education is a relevant research field for those whom are interested in how education is formed from a social and societal context. Through our research within the field, we contribute to a better understanding of education and educational phenomena, their development, leadership and governance in different societies and cultures. We are interested in both the characteristics of the Swedish educational tradition and reforms, as well as global trends and tendencies.
